Mount Forest Students Shop with a Cop
Grade 7 students from St. Mary’s Catholic School were paired with local OPP officers, firefighters, and paramedic and given $100 (sponsored by TD) to go shopping at Mount Forest Foodland for non-perishable food items. Once the students arrived at Mount Forest Foodland, they worked with a local food bank representative to plan a week’s worth of meals for different family structure’s needs (ie. family of four, a single parent 1 child, single parent 2 children, etc). Students were asked to spend as close to $100 without going over, and the big catch, they had to do the math the old fashioned way (no calculators or cell phones!). Students then went to the local food bank to deliver they food they had just purchased.
