Golf Tournament Helps Furnish Quiet Room in CKHA’s ED

On July 15, 2015, Pierre Monette, Owner, Ridgetown Foodland, hosted the ‘A Gift of Life’ Golf Tournament at the Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club. Approximately 144 individuals attended this second annual tournament that donated a portion of the proceeds, $3,035.25, to the Foundation of CKHA to support CKHA in the purchase new furnishings for the Quiet Room located in CKHA’s ED, including a loveseat and recliner, chairs, side tables, lamps, a fireplace and additional décor to complete the room. The Quiet Room is a place within the ED that provides patients’ families with a quiet and comfortable place to rest, wait for news on their loved one and in some cases, discuss the option of organ and tissue donation with a healthcare professional at CKHA.

The ‘A Gift of Life’ Golf Tournament is held annually in Ridgetown to help create awareness of organ and tissue donation throughout Chatham-Kent. The Foundation of CKHA was fortunate to be selected as the recipient of a portion of the proceeds from this year’s tournament as a result of CKHA’s designation as a Trillium Gift of Life Network Hospital – a hospital that is equipped to help facilitate organ and tissue donations.
“Many thanks to Pierre Monette and team at Ridgetown Foodland for their efforts to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation in our community,” says Michele Grzebien-Huckson, Executive Director, Foundation of CKHA. “The new furnishings purchased through this very generous donation, for the Quiet Room in CKHA’s ED, will have a meaningful and lasting impact on local healthcare.”
